The bicycle has never been as popular as it is today, and with the current climate threat, more and more people are choosing not to use the car and instead use the bicycle as a means of transportation.

But the bike has gone from a product with a low climate footprint to having a major impact on the climate. If you calculate the life cycle emissions per kilometer, an electric cargo bike emits about 80gCO2/km, which is almost half as much as an electric van (158 gCO2/km).

In my degree project, I have worked to develop a modular bike that, by being able to be rebuilt and adapted to the different needs we have at different stages of life, can extend the life of the bike and thus also reduce our consumption and make the bike more sustainable again!
