Melina Badejo

I seek out things that I consider beautiful and that give me a feeling of security and calm – the colourful and that which makes me laugh. I am interested in the question of whether activism really must always be so angry and loud. Sometimes I think that it needs to be. Sometimes you have to shout right out to get someone to listen, but sometimes you maybe have to whisper for someone to have the courage and energy to listen. And sometimes you maybe just need to try to convey a feeling.

My degree project is about breaking away from expectations and pressure from both the inside and the outside. To dare to follow my desires and see where they lead me. To dare to claim that the enjoyable is a necessary strategy to be able to create change. To try to let go of the word “performance” to instead focus on the experience in the doing.
