I was just a child the first time I pointed at my grandmother’s arm and asked why she had a number there. Ever since then, she has told me about her memories. So many times that I have a very detailed and clear picture in my head, almost as if it is a memory of my own. But I also notice that the images are starting to dissolve now that I am no longer reminded of them.
My experience is that this process is also happening on a societal level. I see how words change meaning and how history is rewritten before my eyes. Destructive political forces are spreading and gaining ground.
My degree project revolves around questions of memory, historiography, and living in our time against the backdrop of my family history.
Ceramics and glass are the foundation of my practice, but in recent years, I have also experimented with digital tools, laser printers, and 3D printing.
