Social Bodies
Catrin Axelsson

What is our relationship to objects and other bodies? What does our participation in a community mean, and what emotions can it evoke? I explore the meaning and possibility of an abstract kind of wearing, perhaps something unpleasant or heavy, emotions conveyed from my crafting body to others. Can entering a space mean putting something onto our bodies? Is it our commitment and empathy that links us to others? Do we dare see ourselves in the mirror, and do we see others around us?

Considering non-wearable objects as jewellery is a way to relate to the emotional bond, the intimacy, and the close relationship with the physical body jewellery has. Through the objects, the mirroring of our own and other bodies, and our movements and orientations, I explore the relationship between objects, bodies, and space.
