Camila Manuelsdotter Pino

She works by intertwining different mediums to depict an in-betweenness of being Latina and Swedish. Photography is her primary medium and she wants to challenge the viewer’s gaze. By painting on photographs, she leaves an emotional impression that allows you to be transported between the real and the imaginary. Another element of her work involves an interest in words and the power they possess for hidden stories and cultural inclusion.

During her master’s studies at Konstfack, her focus has been on finding her way back to the joy of art and letting herself be carried between different areas. What materials make her shine and which words become important to manifest. It is an endless story of the search for Latin America in Sweden.
