In my degree project, I have explored NASA’s mission to build a station on the moon by 2027. Everything that we don’t bring with us from earth will be locally produced with the materials found on the moon.
Regolith is a fine powder that covers the surface of the moon and can be hardened and used as the perfect building material without adding any adhesive.
I have chosen to focus on the living conditions of the astronauts who will be stationed on the lunar base. By focusing on what one might need in a hostile and isolated place, I have come up with a lounge chair for relaxation in between work hours.
A Wave Home is a lounge chair that mimics the flow of waves. It is made as a reminder of our home, our connection to the sea and how we sail the cosmos to explore new worlds.
